NOIDA:
Noida Authority has sent a detailed project report (DPR) to the Uttar
Pradesh state government to approve the 14.95 km Metro corridor between
Sector 71 and Noida Extension. Earlier, on September 19, a joint board
of the Noida and Greater Noida authorities approved the DPR, having
received it from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
According to Authority officials, once the DPR and Metro alignment are approved by the government, it will require a Union ministry of urban development (MoUD) go-ahead. "Once the government clears the project, Noida Metro Rail Company (NMRC) and DMRC will ink an MoU," said Rama Raman, chairperson of the two Noida authorities.
All this could take a few months. "Once the MoU is signed, tenders for civil and other works will be initiated, before barricading and construction can begin," Raman said. "The track is likely to be commissioned by March 2021," Raman added.
As per DMRC's DPR, the proposed corridor will extend from Sector 71 to Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida (west). Officials said cost of construction is estimated at Rs 3,884 crore.
Measuring around 14.95km, the elevated corridor will have nine stations. Noida sectors 122 and 123, Greater Noida Sector 2, 3, 4 and 10 and Ecotech 12 will be other stations on this route.
